The Basics

The Canon Pixma MX330 has the same shape of the Pixma MP620 we reviewed a few months back but it’s done in opposite colors.  It is almost completely grey with a black band around the top of the scanner lid and a black base on the back.

The MX330 is an average sized all-in-one inkjet printer; its dimensions are 18.1 x 16.2 x 7.8 inches when not in use.  When in use (rear tray, output tray and fax tray extended) the dimensions are approx. 18.1 x 20.5 x 8.5 inches.  You should factor in an extra 13 inches for opening the scanner lid when deciding where to put the MX330.

The 30 page automatic document feeder is located on the top of the MX330 scanner lid; it folds up when not in use and has adjustable paper clasps for multiple different media types.

The control panel is located below that but is also apart of the scanner lid.  The LCD is 1.8 inches and centered in the middle of the panel.  The power, copy, fax, and scan buttons are to the left of the LCD.  The number pad and scroll wheel are located to the right along with menu, settings, back, redial, coded dial, fax quality, color start, black start and stop buttons.

The scanner is below the lid.  The 48-bit flatbed is 11.7 x 8.5 inches.  There is an additional glass scanner (part of the automatic document feeder) for faxes and copies that measures 1.2 x 8.5 inches.

If you pull the output tray (located on the front of the MX330) out, you can lift the middle of the machine up to access ink cartridges.

The PictBridge port is on the front right corner of the MX330.

The rear paper tray is on top of the back base; the phone jack, Ethernet and USB ports are also located on the back base.
